It's been a goal of mine for over 25 years to tell the story of D.W. Griffith, who is virtually forgotten today.

At the same time, I have a Film Archives that has an impressive listing of classic feature films, shorts and photos that will be posted regularly.

In the weeks, months and years ahead I hope to prove to world that Seymour Stern should one day be considered the father of American film criticism, but that, because he was his own worst enemy and alienated the people he should have been impressing he found himself shut out of history.

I’ve spent over 20 years waiting for the day that I could bring this man’s work to the world of the serious film scholar and fan of the Silent and Russian cinema, especially the work of D.W. Griffith the father of America film--Seymour was his official biographer and a good friend in the director’s later years.

American film criticism

We will be presenting excerpts from the published and unpublished writings, articles and diaries of Seymour Stern between 1926 through 1978, when he conferred extensively with such legendary directors as Charles Chaplin, Sergei Eisenstein, Lewis Milestone, Michael Curtiz, Preston Sturges and D.W. Griffith.

Seymour was brought to Hollywood in the late 1920’s to teach film directors camera movement at the Universal Studios at the start of the sound era. and all types of odd film reels that I’ve uncovered over the years.
