The American Character Toy Company Commercials

At this time, we know very little about this now-defunct toy company, and would appreciate any information you could contribute. But we've uncovered some rare and never-before-seen sales films and standard commercials presented on TV during the late Sixties and early Seventies: The Bonanza Collection, derived from the classic TV show, includes: three action figures of Hoss, Little Joe, and Pa; Ben Cartwright with their Stallion, Palomino, and Pinto; the Four-In-One Wagon which turns into an ore-carrying wagon, chuck wagon, or ranch wagon; as well as commercials showing seventy pieces of detailed accessories. The Dick Tracy Collection features an AM radio and shoulder holster, two-way wrist radio, silent ray gun and target game. Tressy - "short or long or in between, Tressy hair makes her a queen -" you can pull her hair out of her head and make it any length you like. Plus a detailed sales film and great commercials which show off the accompanying line of dresses and accessories, including a Glamour Pack (curlers, hairsprays, combs, and brushes), hats in a hat shop, and her apartment with its own line of furniture and a terrace. The 007 Action Pack comes complete with a Secret I.D. bracelet, and a secret pen with vapor paper. Other American Character commercials included on this tape are: The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Popi the fashion model, Snip and Tuck, the Betsey McCall Doll and Tiny Tears with Shari Lewis. We conclude with a Sammy Davis Jr. special, THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF CHILDREN, sponsored by American Character. This includes rare segments from his first coast-to-coast special with the original commercials intact. Some of the sets are in HULLABALLOO-style design, circa 1960.
